Writing Page One Of - A Lifetime of Yesterdays

What it feels like in my head after writing the first page of my book, A Lifetime of Yesterdays?

It's a central stepping-off point. You're at the edge of a cliff and abyss. Cold air blows directly into your face without a net or any direction where to go. But this is the right place at the right time for me. If I fail, I'll fail; I will try again.

There are some significant crossroads as we age. These rights of passage, like the day you realize Mom and Dad aren't always right and that sometimes their advice sucks. A first kiss, leaving home for college, your first day at your first job, getting married, witnessing birth, trying and failing, succeeding, standing at the edge of fuckin life and giving it the finger. It can be as much a serendipitous epiphany as a deliberate act.

I was in bed, thinking about my book. I pulled out my iPad, opened my notes, and started writing page one. It's done, and I will publish it next week.

Peace, Chris
